The Hollidaysburg Area School District Foundation was started to ensure that today’s students will have additional opportunities to grow and succeed in a nurturing and caring environment. Members of the Foundation understand that learning is a life-long process and that knowledge is the foundation of learning. Our members understand that the schools of Hollidaysburg must continue to educate our students by providing opportunities for them to become responsible and productive members of society. The Foundation is made up of your neighbors, friends, former classmates and local business owners. Contributors direct their support to either our Venture Grant Program or Educator-in-Residence Program.
The Process: The Foundation is a recognized, independent, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the educational mission of the Hollidaysburg Area School District. The Foundation provides educational experiences and opportunities for students and teachers that would otherwise not be available through the general operating budget. All contributions to support the mission of the Foundation are disbursed to support Foundation programs. The Board of Directors serve as volunteers to the Foundation and receive no compensation for their work on behalf of the Foundation. All contributions are tax-deductible in accordance with the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status.
Venture Grants: Venture grants are used to support innovative teaching and learning initiatives within the Hollidaysburg Area School District. These grants are awarded to enable unique teaching strategies to become reality. Venture grants put funds directly into the District’s classrooms and often lead to subsequent enhancements of the school’s regular curriculum.
The Educator-in-Residence Program: This unique program is designed to bring guest artists, educators, diplomats, authors and a host of others into the District to enrich the learning process. Educators-in-Residence share their expertise with students, teachers, staff and members of the community. By sharing their success stories, our educators-in-residence bring reality to the dreams and aspirations of our students.
